Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of SC-CPE, the automated CPE certificate issuance service operated by Simply Cyber LLC. Please read them before registering.
Last updated: 2026-04-14 | Version: v1
1. Acceptance
By registering for or using SC-CPE you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old to register. By checking the age attestation at registration you confirm you meet this requirement.
2. What the Service Does
SC-CPE automatically issues Continuing Professional Education (CPE) certificates to cybersecurity professionals who attend Simply Cyber's Daily Threat Briefing YouTube livestream. The service monitors the live chat during each broadcast, identifies registered users who post qualifying messages, and issues a certificate recording 0.5 CPE credits for each qualifying attendance. Certificates are delivered by email and accessible through your personal dashboard.
3. Eligibility and Account
One person may hold only one SC-CPE account. Each account may be bound to exactly one YouTube channel. Registration is personal and non-transferable. You must provide your legal name as it appears on your professional certifications. By checking the legal-name attestation at registration you confirm this. Simply Cyber LLC reserves the right to verify identity and to suspend or terminate accounts where discrepancies are found.
4. The Attendance Rule
A qualifying attendance is recorded when all of the following conditions are met:
- Your registered YouTube channel posts at least one chat message containing three or more characters.
- That message is posted during the active window of the live broadcast, defined as the period between the stream's
actualStartTimeandactualEndTimeas reported by the YouTube Data API. - The message is posted within a mid-stream window — not in the first or last segment reserved to exclude pre-stream and post-stream chat noise (exact window parameters are set at the operator's discretion and may be adjusted to improve accuracy).
- Your YouTube channel is bound to an active, verified SC-CPE account at the time the message is posted.
Each weekday broadcast awards at most 0.5 CPE credits per registered user, regardless of how many messages are posted. No credits are awarded for replayed, archived, or on-demand viewing.
5. Certificate Usage Disclaimer
SC-CPE certificates certify only one thing: that your bound YouTube channel posted a qualifying message in the Simply Cyber Daily Threat Briefing live chat during an active broadcast window on the stated date. This is evidence of synchronous attendance at a cybersecurity-focused educational event.
CPE acceptance policies vary by certification body. Simply Cyber LLC makes no guarantee that any particular certification body — including (ISC)², ISACA, CompTIA, or any other organisation — will accept SC-CPE certificates as satisfying CPE requirements. Most major bodies accept self-attested CPE under their continuing education programs, but you are responsible for verifying your body's current policy before submitting certificates.
You are solely responsible for accurately representing the nature of this CPE activity when submitting certificates to any certification body. Misrepresenting the nature, duration, or content of CPE activity to a certification body may constitute fraud or an ethics violation under that body's code of conduct. Any such misrepresentation is the user's sole responsibility and liability. Simply Cyber LLC bears no responsibility for how users choose to represent their certificates to third parties.
6. Prohibited Conduct
The following actions are prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension and revocation of all certificates issued to the account:
- Automation and bots: Using scripts, bots, browser extensions, or any automated tool to post chat messages or interact with the service on your behalf.
- Scheduled messages: Using YouTube's scheduled-message or queued-message features, or any equivalent mechanism, to post without real-time presence.
- Account sharing: Allowing another person to use your SC-CPE account, dashboard URL, or registered YouTube channel.
- Multiple accounts: Registering more than one SC-CPE account for the same individual, or binding more than one YouTube channel to a single account.
- Impersonation: Registering under another person's name, providing false legal name attestations, or otherwise misrepresenting your identity.
- Interference: Attempting to exploit, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service's attendance detection or certificate generation systems.
7. Revocation
Simply Cyber LLC may revoke any certificate, at any time, for any of the prohibited conduct described above or for other credible evidence of abuse. Revoked certificates remain on record but display a REVOKED status on the public certificate verification page. Users who believe a revocation was made in error may contact us at contact@simplycyber.io to request review.
8. Termination and Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your SC-CPE account at any time by contacting us at contact@simplycyber.io. We will delete your personal data within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except as required by law. Note that audit log records are retained for 7 years for compliance and abuse-prevention purposes, even after account deletion, consistent with our Privacy Policy. Simply Cyber LLC may also terminate or suspend accounts for violations of these terms, at our discretion, with or without notice.
9. Fees
SC-CPE is provided free of charge. There are no fees associated with registration, certificate issuance, or certificate verification.
10. Disclaimers
The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. We do not guarantee that the service will be available on any particular day, that all broadcasts will be monitored, or that attendance records will be error-free.
We do not warrant that (ISC)², ISACA, CompTIA, or any other certification body will accept SC-CPE certificates. These organisations set their own policies and may change them at any time.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Simply Cyber LLC's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to this service is limited to the total fees you have paid to us — which, given the service is free, means zero dollars ($0). We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Each version is identified by a version number and effective date at the top of this page. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after a new version takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to a new version, you must stop using the service and request account deletion.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware.
